JLPT N1 Grammar: こととて (kototote)

How to use:
Verb (casual) + こととて
Noun + のこととて
な-adjective + なこととて
い-adjective + こととて

Explain:
With the form [A こととて B] it means that because of A, becoming B is of course no other way.
It also meant something like that but …

Example sentences:

1. 何も知らぬこととて、失礼をいたしました。
nanimo shiranu kototote, shitsurei o itashimashita.
I did such a rude thing because I didn’t know anything.

2. 年末年始は休業中のこととて、この時期の依頼にはすぐに対応ができません。
nenmatsunenshi wa kyuugyouchuu no kototote, kono jiki no irai niwa sugu ni taiou ga dekimasen.
We can’t deal with such requests promptly during this new year holiday.

3. 私の両親が高齢のこととて、来年から一緒に住むことにしました。
watashi no ryouōshin ga kourei no koto tote, rainen kara issho ni sumu koto ni shimashita.
Since my parents are old, I decided to live with them from next year.

4. 慣れぬことって、失礼をいたしました。
narenu koto tte, shitsurei o itashimashita.
Because I did not know this job, it was troublesome for him

5. 知らぬこととて、ご迷惑をおかけして申し訳ございません。
shiranu kototote, gomeiwaku o okake shite mōshiwakegozaimasen.
Honestly sorry, because I didn’t know it, I bothered you.
