JLPT N5 Grammar: いる (iru)

Meaning: to exist, there is/are

How to use: Person/Place + (に)は + thing + がいる

Explain: The verb いる is used to indicate the existence of living objects.

For example:
1. 図書館に人がいっぱいいる。
toshokan ni hito ga ippai iru.
There are many people at the library.

2. 台所には母がいます。
daidokori niwa haha ga imasu.
Mom’s in the kitchen.

3. 私たちには、お互い３歳の子どもがいるという共通点があります。
watashitachi ni wa, otagai sansai no kodomo ga iru to iu kyoutsuuten ga arimasu.
What you and I have in common is that we have a three-year-old.
