Japanese Verbs That Go with the Particle “に” (Ni)

The “movement/target” verbs (→ think destination)

のります (Norimasu) → to ride

はいります (Hairimasu) → to enter

つきます (Tsukimasu) → to arrive

=> If there’s a destination or target point, your brain should start leaning toward に.

 

The “interaction” verbs (→ think person as target)

あいます (Aimasu) → to meet

ききます (Kikimasu) → to ask / listen (to someone)

れんらくします (Renraku shimasu) → to contact

=> When the action is directed toward a person, it’s often [Name-san] + に + Verb.
