JLPT N2 Grammar: それにしても (sore ni shite mo)

Meaning: nevertheless; at any rate; even so

How to use: Phrase 1 + それにしても + phrase 2

For example:
A. またガスリン代、値上がりしたよ。
mata gasu Rin dai, neagari shita yo.
Gas prices are up again

B. それにしても政治家は何をしてるんだろう。われわれがこんなに苦しんでいるのに。
sorenishitemo seijika wa nani o shi teru ndarou. Wareware ga kon’nani kurushinde irunoni.
So what are politicians doing? while we are suffering so much.

A. 坂本さん、あの高校に受かったんだってね。
sakamoto-san, ano kōkō ni ukatta n datte ne.
I heard that Mr. Sakamoto has already entered the high school

B. 必死で勉強してたらしいよ。
hisshide benkyō shite tarashī yo.
It seems that he studied hard.

A. それにしてもすごいね。
sorenishitemo sugoi ne.
I know that but it’s still amazing

わたしは彼の憶測が正しいであろうことにいささかの疑いも抱きはしないが、それにしてもこれを推論と称するのはばかげている。
watashi wa kare no okusoku ga tadashii de arou koto ni isasaka no utagai mo idaki wa shinai ga, sore ni shite mo kore o suiron to shousuru no wa bakagete iru.
I’ve no doubt that he is perfectly right in his guess, but to call it a deduction is absurd.
