と (to) Particle

Meaning: and; a partner to do something together

How to use:
Noun(person) + と

Noun1 + と + Noun2

For example:
1. A partner to do something together
「と」 is used to indicate a companion or partner with whom an action is performed. This function emphasizes collaboration or joint activities.

昨日きのう 友達ともだち 映画えいがを ました。
I watched a movie with my friend.

わたしは 来年らいねん 彼女かのじょ 結婚けっこんします。
I will marry my girlfriend next year.

来週らいしゅう 家族かぞく 旅行りょこうします。
I will travel with my family next week.

 

2. And
「と」 can also function as a conjunction, meaning “and.” It connects two or more nouns or phrases, establishing a relationship between them.

土曜日どようび 日曜日にちようび 銀行ぎんこうは やすみです。
The bank is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

果物くだもので バナナ りんごが きです。
I like apples and bananas among all the fruits.
