JLPT N3 Grammar: ば~ほど (ba~hodo)

Meaning: the more… the more

How to use:
Verb-ばconditional + (same) Verb + ほど
いadj-ばconditional + (same) いadj + ほど
なadj + なら + (same)なadj + なほど

For example:
1. 熱心に働けば働くほどわたしは生きる。
nesshin ni hatarakeba hataraku hodo watashi wa ikiru.
The harder I work the more I live.

2. 調べれば調べるほど、こいつうさんくさいところだよ。
shirabereba shiraberu hodo, koitsu usankusai tokoro da yo.
The more I looked, the fishier it began to smell.

3. 正気だといえばいうほど、信じてもらえなくなる。
shouki da to ieba iu hodo, shinjite moraenaku naru.
The more you say you are sane, the less people will believe you.

4. 考えれば考えるほど、私は彼女が正しいと思うようになっていた。
kangaereba kangaeru hodo, watashi wa kanojo ga tadashii to omou you ni natte ita.
The more I thought about it, the more I knew she was right.
