How to use:
Verb-dictionary form + ということだ
Phrase + ということだ
Noun + ということだ

For example:
1. 山田さんは近く会社をやめて留学刷るということだ。
Yamada-san wa chikaku kaisha o yamete ryūgaku suru to iu kotoda.
I heard that in the near future Mr. Yamada will quit his job to study abroad

2. 募集のしめきりは9月末（だ）ということだから、応募するのなら急いだほうがいい。
boshū no shimekiri wa 9 getsumatsu (da) to iu kotodakara, ōbo suru nonara isoida hō ga ī.
The closing date for applications is the end of September, so if you want to apply, you better hurry.

3. 物価は来月からさらに上がるということだ。
bukka wa raigetsu kara sara ni agaru to iu koto da.
I heard that prices will increase even more next month.

4. コーチの話では、彼が試合に出れば、優勝はまちがいないということだ。
koochi no hanashi dewa, kare ga shiai ni dereba, yuushou wa machigainai to iu koto da.
According to the coach, if he joins the match we’ll win for sure.
