や (ya) Particle

The particle 「や」 is used to list multiple items as examples, implying that the list is not exhaustive. It is similar to saying “and” or “such as” in English when giving a few representative examples without including everything. This particle is useful when you want to suggest that there are additional items or possibilities beyond those mentioned.

Meaning: “A and B, etc.” ; “such as A and B”

How to use: Noun や Noun

For example:

わたしの 部屋へやに ベッド つくえがあります。
In my room, there is a bed,  a desk, and many more.

つぎの 日曜日にちようびに 漫画まんが 雑誌ざっしを みます。
I am going to read comics, magazines and many more, next Sunday.

夏休なつやすみは 京都きょうと 奈良ならへ きました。
I went to Kyoto, Nara and many more during Summer vacation.

昨日きのう、スーパー デパートで ものしました。
I did shopping in the department store, in the supermarket and so on yesterday.
